England Women will head into Wednesday's Cyprus Cup final against Canada with an unbeaten run in the competition, after securing a 1-1 draw against Holland on Monday.

Eniola Aluko equalised for the Three Lionesses to cancel out Anna Miedema’s opener, meaning Mark Sampson’s side will face the three-time winners in a repeat of the 2009 and 2013 finals in good form.

In captain Steph Houghton’s absence, Karen Bardsley skippered the side against the Netherlands, while Demi Stokes also completed 90 minutes. Jill Scott was named on the bench but did not feature, while Toni Duggan was not included in the squad.

For the first time in the tournament, England fell behind on 18 minutes as Miedema applied the finish after Danielle van de Donk did well.

The Three Lionesses levelled the scores three minutes before half-time though with a fine individual effort from Aluko, who beat four Dutch defenders before slotting home.

In the second period, neither side could find the elusive winner but England will head into Wednesday’s final (4:30pm GMT kick-off) on the back of two wins and a draw.

Scotland were also in Cyprus Cup action today and clinched a 2-1 win over Korea. Defender Jennifer Beattie completed the full 90 minutes for Anna Signeul’s side.

Meanwhile, Sarah Wiltshire’s Wales defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in the Istria Cup, and an England u19 side which included Natasha Flint, Georgia Brougham and Keira Walsh completed their trip to La Manga with a 1-0 win over Denmark.
