Manchester City Women's Izzy Christiansen scooped three prizes at the Club's End of Season Awards night.

The midfielder, who played a pivotal part in helping the Blues to a top-two league finish and European spot, capped an exceptional year with the treble, which included the Vitality Fitness, Etihad Airways Player of the Season and MCWFC Supporters Club Player of the Season Awards.

The 24-year-old impressed with her work rate and creativity, which returned nine domestic goals and earned her a first senior call-up to the England squad.

She was presented with the awards at an event, presented by Pioneer Group, in the Chairman’s Lounge of the Etihad Stadium in front of her teammates, Club staff and loyal supporters.

Speaking to mcfc.co.uk after the ceremony, she expressed her delight - but also took time to credit her colleagues.

She declared: “I’m pretty shocked. Three awards is a great achievement and I’m so pleased to have been able to have done that for the team.

“You can’t achieve anything without your teammates - it’s a team game and next season, who knows who’ll earn what award?”

In addition to her trophies, Christiansen also received a commemorative drum from Sarah Bland, Chair of the MCWFC Supporters Club, as a souvenir marking the fans’ affection for her.

Reflecting on the thoughtful gift and the night itself, she smiled: “It’s been a really, really nice evening.

“It’s great to have so many fans here, who support us through thick and thin.

“They’ve been to all the games this season and obviously, they love us enough to come to our awards night. It’s great to have everyone together again.

“It’s massively important to have such a close relationship with the fans. The players are role models and it’s an honour to be supported so enthusiastically.

“Moving forward to next season, it’s great to know we have an excellent core fanbase behind us.

“We’ll take some time now over the winter to regenerate so we can be ready for next season to work even harder and hopefully, win some trophies.”

Along with Izzy, Toni Duggan, Emma Lipman and Georgia Stanway also claimed deserved recognition during the ceremony.

Duggan collected the Nissan Goal of the Season Award for her stunning strike against Arsenal Ladies and was handed the prize by Club legend and Ambassador, Mike Summerbee.

Lipman picked up the Pioneer Community Award for her outstanding voluntary work, while Stanway was named the Timeline Rising Star Award.
