Manchester City Women's international stars stole the show once again as England kicked-off their Euro 2017 qualifying campaign with a thumping 8-0 win over Estonia.

Jill Scott netted the fourth and Izzy Christiansen scored a stunner on her senior debut for Mark Sampson’s side, who ran riot in Tallinn.

Those strikes, alongside a Danielle Carter hat-trick, a Fran Kirby brace and a goal from Jo Potter, sealed the win on a thoroughly comfortable evening for the Lionesses, who top Group 7 on goal difference.

Skipper Steph Houghton and Demi Stokes also featured as four Blues were named in the starting line-up. Karen Bardsley had to settle for a place on the bench with a hand injury, while Lucy Bronze and Toni Duggan had also withdrawn from the squad last week with knocks.

England, in their first competitive game since their bronze medal triumph in Canada, started brightly and opened the scoring after just two minutes, when debutant Carter smashed home from close range.

Kirby then hit the woodwork before teeing up Potter on 34 minutes to double the lead, as the midfielder swept home from inside the box.

Just six minutes later, it was 3-0 when Kirby collected Gemma Davison’s cross before calmly slotting home, handing the visitors an unassailable half-time lead.

The Lionesses continued where they left off after the break and Scott added a fourth within ten minutes of the restart, side-footing Davison’s delivery into the bottom corner.

Christiansen, who turned 24 yesterday, marked her birthday and her first appearance for the first-team with the fifth, controlling well on the edge of the area before unleashing a wonderful half-volley into the bottom corner.

As the onslaught continued, Kirby netted her second, after Carter’s shot was parried - and Carter herself scored the seventh, converting Ellen White’s cross.

Potter almost doubled her personal tally when Getter Laar pushed her attempt onto the bar before substitute Carter completed the scoring and her treble, turning the defender before firing in the eighth.
