Jane Ross is edging closer to a dream debut season in the Super League.

The Scotland international, who joined City in November, has set the English game alight with 12 goals in 17 appearances - some of those beauties.

She tops the scoring charts and - with the Blues top of the league and into the Continental Tyres Cup semi-finals - stands an excellent chance of bagging multiple pieces of silverware come October.

Ever modest though, the striker insists the Golden Boot is not a priority and that she is fully focused on aiding her team to success.

“I take every games as it comes,” she declared. “For me, the most important thing is to pick up the three points and do what I can to help the team out on the pitch.

“Of course, it’s great to be top goalscorer as things stand but it’s not really a focus of mine.”

Following an international break, City return to league action on Sunday with the visit of Reading, and Ross asserts Nick Cushing’s side are raring to go.

“It was nice to have a bit of a break but it’s been great to be back together and focusing on the game,” she added.

“It’s going to be a challenging match. Reading played well in the away game and made things difficult for us. I’m sure they’ll come to Manchester with a similar plan.

“They’ll come here wanting to show what they can do and pick up points. It’s something we have to be prepared for but we’ll be focusing on going out to beat them.”

Sunday’s clash also marks a City double header, as the women play at the Academy Stadium before the men take on West Ham at the Etihad.

The double will be Ross’ first and it’s something she’s looking forward to.

She said: “So far, our home games have had great attendances and hopefully, with it being a double header on Sunday, we could push that and attract even more fans.

“The support we’ve had at the Academy Stadium has been great and we’re so grateful for that.”
