The Club, which is run by Chairperson Sarah Bland and already has 55 members, will allow fans to meet on a regular basis, organise tickets and travel and discuss all things MCWFC.
Bland, who has supported the Blues for five years and has witnessed their transformation into a professional top flight side, is delighted to be involved in the project.
“I started watching the team when they were Manchester City Ladies she told mcfc.co.uk. “From their first match, I was hooked. Since then, I’ve seen the transition to Manchester City Women and it’s been a fantastic journey.
“I started asking people if they’d be interested in creating an OSC last season and of course they were because they’re all big fans. We then approached Kevin Parker (General Secretary of MCFC Supporters Club) who thought it was a great idea and helped us put the wheels in motion to make it all official.
As tradition, the Club will continue to run MCWFC OSC’s Player of the Year Award at the annual End of Season Celebrations. Last year, it was presented to Izzy Christiansen, along with a gift of a drum - just like Bland’s, which she brings along on matchdays to help build the atmosphere.
Bland continued. “I like to encourage the fans to come, and get them singing on a matchday, as I know the players appreciate that.
“Hearing little voices singing ‘come on, City!’ makes me smile and I love seeing younger fans queuing for autographs after the game too. It’s a special moment and it’s important that everyone enjoys the matchday experience.”
“This could be really big project. As well as a great following in Manchester a couple of women from America are keen on joining us, we also have fans in Glasgow and Milton Keynes so we’re hoping this will grow into something special.”
