The Scotland international star has lifted four trophies – including two league titles – and has helped her country to secure a place at their first major tournament.
Having plied her trade at both Melbourne City Women (on loan) and Nick Cushing’s Man City, she became the first player to win multilple trophies at two City Football Group clubs.
In January, the 25-year-old played her part as the Australian outfit became the first CFG women’s team to lift a league title – and they did so with a 100% record.
Beattie also scored in the Grand Final, bagging the opener, as her side triumphed 4-1 against Sydney.
Continental Tyres Cup and Super League success followed when she returned to Manchester – and she was pivotal.
Employed in central defence due to an injury to Abbie McManus, she was an integral component in a back line which conceded just four league goals all season – three of those penalties. She also chipped in with six goals in all competitions, including a brace in the Champions League last 32 tie in Russia – City’s first ever European trip.
Reflecting on a whirlwind 12 months, Beattie told ManCity.com:
“It’s definitely been one to remember, to say the least. Going out on loan to Melbourne was a brilliant experience and we won the double, so to come and replicate that with Man City, the first time we’ve won the league, it’s been an incredible year. I’m gutted it’s ending – it’s been brilliant.
“Melbourne needed a centre-half and when you’re asked to represent the City Football Group you don’t say no to those opportunities. It was an amazing experience.
“The way the City Football Academies are built, they’re the same. The styles of football are really similar. The training was similar. So all that made it easier for me.
“Once you win silverware, cups or league wins, you get a hunger for it and want to do it again. I didn’t win anything in my first year at Manchester, so to go out and do it with Melbourne made me want it even more this year – and we won the double! We’ve got something to build on next year – the FA Cup is the one we want.”
