Lucy Bronze
No stranger to individual and team success, 2015 England Player of the Year and BBC Sports Personality of the Year nominee Lucy Bronze had a lot to live up to – and she did.
A constant in Nick Cushing’s starting XI throughout the season, the right-back’s defensive solidity and lung-busting attacking runs were crucial in helping her side to a league and cup double.
The defender also chipped in with some important goals – five in total. Most notably in the Continental Tyres Cup final and in the Champions League, with two in two games against Zvezda Perm.
Steph Houghton
An ever-present in the City line-up since her arrival on New Years’ Day 2014, the captain has clocked up 57 total appearances in sky blue.
A committed, passionate and inspirational leader, the England skipper is one of the first names on the teamsheet – and she’s been influential in ensuring City have been almost impenetrable at the back this season.
With last-ditch tackles, important clearances and a couple of vital goals to her name, Houghton has led by example. Her dedication and love of the game – and Club – shines through week by week.
Jane Ross
Signed in November 2015, Jane Ross could not have dreamed of a better debut season with the Blues.
The Scotland international completed the year as the Club’s top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions – some of those were crucial.
Hard-working, clinical and strong, the striker has slotted seamlessly into Cushing’s side and has played a pivotal role in City’s double-winning campaign.
