Goals from 2-0 win over reigning champions Chelsea to hand the Blues a first crown, and the Scot – the league’s top scorer – felt it was fully deserved.
“It feels brilliant,” she told ManCity.com. “It was exactly what we wanted and it’s great to have achieved it.
“We’d put ourselves in a very good position going into the game. We knew a point would see us lift the trophy but we wanted all three and the performance we put in was deserving of a win.”
With City gaining a foothold in the game having broken the deadlock, Ross added the clash panned out as expected – and she was thrilled to repay the fans’ impressive support.
“We have a lot of respect for Chelsea – they’re a very good team – but as the game grew, we grew in confidence,” she reflected. “Defensively, we were solid and attacking-wise, we got the goals.
“The fans have been brilliant all season and to have so many of them turn out to cheer us on makes such a huge difference.”
The striker also hopes the trophy will be the first of two in a week, as City welcome Birmingham to the Academy Stadium on Sunday 2 October in the Continental Tyres Cup final.
“The focus will now turn to the next game, which is next Sunday,” she continued. “We’re excited for that cup final now – we want another trophy.”’
