Manchester City Women will travel to Germany as part of their preparations for the new FA WSL campaign.

Four-time Champions League winners, FFC Frankfurt, are the latest opposition to be announced on the Blues’ European pre-season tour, which also sees them jet off to France for the Toulouse International Ladies Cup.

The 5,500 capacity Stadion am Brentanobad is the venue as Nick Cushing’s squad test themselves against the Bundesliga outfit on Sunday, 20 August at 3pm.

This will be the second pre-season meeting between the two sides after a February friendly at the Academy Stadium formed part of the Blues’ warm-up for the Spring Series.

The Germans were the victors that day, with goals from Jackie Groenen and Mandy Islacker enough for the win, despite Nikita Parris’ second half strike.

With seven Bundesliga titles to their name, City can expect a tough challenge in the first friendly of their pre-season schedule, which will also provide the opportunity to see new signings Claire Emslie and Mie Jans in a Blue shirt.

The trip to Germany precedes the Toulouse International Ladies Cup five days later and for Head of Women’s Football, Gavin Makel, this is ideal preparation for the forthcoming campaign.

“Everyone at Manchester City Women is looking forward to playing FFC Frankfurt as part of our European pre-season tour,” he said.

“FFC Frankfurt is a top club and pitting ourselves against one of Europe’s best will help us prepare for both the Toulouse International Ladies Cup and the 17/18 season that lays ahead.”

Ticket information for FFC Frankfurt v City will be released on mancity.com in due course.
