Seven Manchester City Women players featured in Utrecht as England beat Scotland 6-0 at the 2017 Women’s European Championships.

Karen Bardsley, Demi Stokes, Steph Houghton, Lucy Bronze, Jill Scott and Nikita Parris all played for the Lionesses, while Jane Ross started up front for Scotland in the Group D clash.

The first piece of action saw two club mates pitted against each other as Ross forced Bardsley to tip over a long range effort in the opening minute.

Jodie Taylor opened the scoring for Mark Sampson’s side before notching her second in the 27th minute after Bronze had an effort cleared off the line.

It was soon 3-0 five minutes later when Jill Scott rattled the crossbar from 30 yards out and Ellen White snapped up the rebound.

The Lionesses were 4-0 up when Ross’ game came to an early end in the 63rd minute as an injury forced her off with the 27-year old later being pictured on the sidelines with ice on her shoulder.

Parris was introduced into the game a minute later and England were in complete control when Jordan Nobbs added a fifth goal late on.

With the last touch of the game, former Blue Toni Duggan flicked Houghton’s header into the back of the net from close range to seal the three points.
