The Blues travel to Fortuna Hjorring in the first leg of the quarter-finals, having already defeated Zvezda Perm and Brondby in previous rounds.
With some adopt a cautious approach away from home in Europe, Houghton asserts that is simply not in her side’s nature.
“We always play to win - that’s what this Club is about,” she stated.
“We want to win as many football games as we can.
“First and foremost for us, it’s about concentrating on ourselves and making sure we put on a performance over two legs.
“Maybe we have to be a bit careful but I really believe in this team in terms of how defensively solid we are and the fact we let our strikers try and create as many chances as we possibly can.”
Nick Cushing’s side progressed to this stage with a hard-fought 2-1 aggregate triumph over Brondby in November.
Facing Danish opposition once more, the City and England skipper added she expects a similar test.
“We’re excited to play in the Bredband Nord Arena,” she continued. “It’s our first ever quarter-final of the Champions League and the mood in the camp is good – we’re excited and we can’t wait to get going.
“We played Brondby in the last round and I think Fortuna are very similar in terms of how they like to play and press. They have some very good individual players.
“We are mindful of how good a team they are and we will give them the respect they deserve.
“We’re organised at the back to kill off anything that poses a threat.”
We're back! 💪
