And the defender, who was named Player of the Match, was happy to get a point against the Midlanders but says she was disappointed to fall a goal behind in the first instance.
Emily Westwood converted from a corner kick to put Birmingham ahead in the FA Cup final dress rehearsal but a spirited and determined fight back saw City equalise 57 minutes into the match.
“It’s a good thing that we can come back into games when the first half isn’t what we expect form ourselves and going a goal down is tough,” Bronze said.
“We took the game by the scruff of the neck and went for the throat. That’s what a lot of our players like to do.
“To show that we can come back and change the way we play and bring a bit of energy and resilience back into our game is something that we can hang our hats.”
This season’s PFA Player of the Year also gave her thoughts on Birmingham as a team and what they were able to do to get into the position they were in going into the second half of the match.
“They wanted it more than us, they were calmer on the ball,” she said. “All respect to Birmingham because they did well in the first half and we need to step up and play the full 90 minutes as we did in the second half.
“I think we need to start games better I think the second half we did a lot better, we kept the ball, we weren’t as sloppy, we defended better, we were tighter to them.”
Lucy knows that the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley will be a different story to what played out at the Academy Stadium and is excited about another clash with the Midlands side.
“We have two games now where everyone’s got a chance to get back into the team and everyone’s got a chance to perform well to get a chance to play at Wembley.
“But ultimately we need to win games because we want to win the Spring Series.”
