Manchester City secured a 4-0 win over Bristol on Sunday which meant we climbed to the top of the FA Women’s Super League table, but there’s a long way to go yet, says Claire Emslie.

The Scot scored City’s second goal against the Vixens at the Academy Stadium but has explained that her former club were tough opponents.

“Yeah, it’s nice to be top of the table but we know it’s a long season to go,” Emslie explained. “It doesn’t mean anything yet, we still need to keep winning each game that comes.

“I think it was a hard game. They were hard to break down - credit to Bristol, they were a really hard working team and it took us to be at our best to get the win.”

Since putting on a Light Blue jersey this summer, Emslie has settled in incredibly well and her scoring ways highlights that.

The playmaker is enjoying being part of the club and has spoken about the atmosphere among her team mates.

“I’m a very attacking player, so to be part of a team that’s always going forward and creating opportunities is great,” Emslie said. “I’m really enjoying playing in this team and I think as a club we all try to play in the same style of football.

“It’s a great atmosphere we’ve got in the team so I think that helps when you’re on the pitch as well.”

City next face LSK Kvinner for the second time in the Uefa Women’s Champions League on Thursday 16 November, and the summer signing is hungry for another win.

“I’m looking forward to the second game on Thursday,” the number 22 stated. “We’ve had a lot of games the past three weeks, then after Thursday we get a little break - so yes, I’m looking forward to going all out in that game and getting another win.”
