Come the end of May, whether City will sit top of the Super League only time will tell but the Blues are well on the way to topping the division’s statistic charts.

Nick Cushing’s side are still alive in three competitions – the Super League, the Champions League and the FA Cup – and the figures for the league campaign have been impressive.

Opta crunched the numbers ahead of the weekend’s visit of Reading, with City occupying first place in nine categories – both on a collective level and for individual players.

Izzy Christiansen is the league’s top scorer with eight. The England midfielder sits one goal ahead of Beth England and has bagged 14 goals in all competitions for her Club this campaign. On average, she has scored a goal every 119.4 minutes.

Nikita Parris is third in the goalscorers list, having netted six from her 28 shots. In total, City’s shot conversion rate is the highest at 17.9%, while the Blues have attempted the second-most amount of shots (192) with an accuracy of 55.13%.

Claire Emslie tops the assist chart with six – one ahead of Parris, while the Scottish winger also appears in the ‘chances created’ category with 25 behind Christiansen, who has two more. Parris sits third in the ‘attempted dribbles’ list with 48.

Cushing’s side dominate the passing stats, have made 5,960 passes in total and inhabiting the top four player spots, courtesy of Jen Beattie (815), Keira Walsh (735), Abbie McManus (659) and Christiansen (623). The Blues hold an average possession of 61.5% – the highest in the division – with a passing accuracy of 82%.

Beattie (313), Walsh (307), Steph Houghton (294) and Christiansen (294) occupy four of the five ‘successful passers’.

McManus has made the most touches with 976, bettering third-placed Beattie (913), fourth-placed Walsh (874) and fifth-placed Demi Stokes’ (833) returns.

Defensively, the Blues equally noteworthy, conceding the third-fewest goals (11) and the fourth-fewest number of fouls (86).

City are also the best-behaved side, having received just one yellow card.
