Jill Scott feels confident that Saturday’s League clash against Chelsea Ladies will provide the perfect chance for City to bounce back to the top of the FA WSL table.

The Blues’ impressive unbeaten run came to an unfortunate end as Birmingham Ladies secured a 2-0 victory over the visitors courtesy of two Ellen White goals.

While frustrations may be high, skipper for the night, Scott, reassured fans that one game doesn’t win or lose the league.

“It was a disappointing performance, I thought they were the better team tonight but I guess that’s just football sometimes,” the City star explained.

“When you go on a run of being unbeaten for so long it’s going to hurt, but I think the good thing is that we’ve got Chelsea on Saturday and that gives us a chance to bounce back.

“We will analyse the game, go again and work hard at the weekend.

“I think one of the areas we need to look at is that we didn’t create many chances as we usually do - it’s one of those things where we didn’t play well enough and we are honest enough to say that.

“One game doesn’t win or lose you the league so we will go again on Saturday.”

Although the clash ended frustratingly, it also marked a superb milestone for the midfielder – 100 City appearances.

“I’ve had great memories here at the club,” the England star added. “I’m very proud every time I put my City shirt on and I play every game like it’s my last.

“Hopefully the fans can see that I always give 100% when I step on the pitch. I have to thank the fans and Nick Cushing for all of their support. I’ve improved a lot as a player and a person with Nick’s help as well so I can’t thank him enough for that.”

City have the chance to leapfrog Chelsea Ladies once again when they take on the West London side at the Academy Stadium on Saturday 24 February, kick-off at 12.30pm (GMT).
