Georgia Stanway has been named the FA WSL's Player of the Month for December.

The youngster, who celebrated her 20th birthday in early January, has kicked off the New Year the same way she completed the last - with a bang.

City completed the month with a 100% record from our four games, with Stanway on the scoresheet in three.

The forward netted crucial strikes against Arsenal and Birmingham to claw the Blues back into the title race, closing the gap on leaders Arsenal atop the table.

Her pivotal double against the Gunners clinched a Player of the Match award, as the Barrow-born attacker continues to cement her status as one of the brightest young talents in the English game.

Speaking to mancity.com, she expressed her delight at receiving the award, declaring: “I’m really happy to have been named the FA WSL’s Player of the Month for December.

“It was a special month for me and an important one for the team.

“Thank you to all of the staff and players at City - it’s a team game and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

In red-hot form for the 2018/19 campaign, bagging ten goals in 15 appearances in total, Stanway earned her senior Lionesses debut in November against Austria, naturally marking her milestone with a goal.

December’s impressive form ensured the City starlet beat out West Ham duo Alisha Lehmann and Julia Simic, and Chelsea’s Magdalena Eriksson to the league’s Player of the Month prize.

The award heralds more good news for the Club, as Nick Cushing was also named the league’s Manager of the Month for December earlier this month.

Congratulations, Georgia!
