On Saturday 7 September, City and United’s women’s teams will face off for the first time in the top tier of English women’s football, as Nick Cushing’s cup double-winners lock horns with the 2018/19 FA Women’s Championship title holders.
The clash marks the first professional Manchester Derby between the two sides and to celebrate, kids* are invited to attend FREE of charge.
The highly-anticipated fixture, which kicks off at 3pm, will also welcome home City’s seven Lionesses, who earned a fourth-place finish at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and secured qualification to next summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Last week, City and PUMA unveiled the Club’s new 2019/20 home and away kits, kicking off a new kit partnership that aims to go beyond the pitch, including a focus on empowering the women’s game.
As part of their growing commitment to women’s football, PUMA have joined forces with City to present the Manchester Derby and fans can expect a number of exciting activations to come in celebration of the landmark fixture.
This game marks the second time City’s women’s team will play in the Etihad Stadium. In May 2014, City beat Everton 1-0 with a dramatic last-minute winner in the group stages of the Continental Cup en route to lifting the team’s first major trophy.
Commenting on the historic Derby fixture, Gavin Makel, Head of Women’s Football at Manchester City said: “Following an exciting summer of women’s football and the Lionesses’ form in France, we wanted to kick off the new season with a bang.
“Having the Manchester Derby as our home opener was the perfect opportunity to play a game at the Etihad Stadium and welcome our seven Manchester City Lionesses home.
“We are delighted to have our new kit partner PUMA on board to build even more excitement around this historic game.”
Steph Houghton, Manchester City and England Lionesses captain, added: “We are all very excited to play our first home game of the season at the Etihad Stadium and, better yet, in a Manchester Derby.
“Big games like this are the ones you want to be in as a player and every one of us Manchester City players is looking forward to getting on that pitch and giving you all a performance to be proud of.”
