England's World Cup campaign ended on a frustrating note as the Lionesses lost 2-1 to Sweden to miss out on the bronze medal.

First-half strikes from Kosovare Asllani and Sofia Jakobsson gave the Swedes an early two-goal cushion in the third and fourth place play-off and though Fran Kirby reduced the deficit, England couldn’t force a leveller

Top scorer Ellen White did find the net for Phil Neville’s side but for the second game in succession her effort was then ruled out by VAR for a handball infringement.

As our picture shows it was tough to take for the Lionesses after a tournament where they have brought so much joy to the nation

And despite the result, the courage and impact our Lionesses have generated in France will continue to push boundaries, challenge perceptions and inspire a nation of all generations back home.
