Manchester City can confirm Jen Beattie has left the Club to join Arsenal.

The Scotland international departs, after four and a half years at the Academy Stadium, having clocked up 114 appearances, scoring 12 goals.

The defender also enjoyed a season-long loan spell at sister club Melbourne City during the 2016/17 winter break, playing her part as the Australian outfit became the first City Football Group women’s team to lift a league title – and they did so with a 100% record. The feat meant Beattie became the first player to win silverware with two CFG Clubs.

Beattie then went on to score in the Grand Final, bagging the opener, as her side triumphed 4-1 against Sydney.

A stalwart in Nick Cushing’s side, Beattie made her 100th appearance in November 2018. During her time at the Club, she lifted two FA Women’s Cups, a Continental Cup and a league title, whilst also guiding City to two Champions League semi-finals. In 2018, she was named the Women’s Player of the Year in the Northwest Football Awards.

She is also a regular starter for her country and helped Scotland to World Cup qualification for the first time in September. She will compete in her first World Cup tournament this summer in France.

Reflecting on her time at the Club, Beattie said: “I would like to thank every single member of staff at City. You are all true professionals and run an incredible organisation, one that has been a pleasure to represent.

“The platforms provided and endless opportunities to develop as a player and person have been immense and I’m beyond grateful.

“To the players, I wish you the best of luck in the future. I’ve made friendships for life during my time at the Club, which have made every moment even more special.

“Last but certainly not least, thank you to all the City fans who have been second to none. There have been so many times when you truly were our twelfth player. It was a privilege to represent you.”

Everyone at City would like to thank Jen for her outstanding contribution and wish her the best of luck on her new adventure.
