On this day in 2002, Manchester City completed our Division One title-winning campaign with a 3-1 win over Portsmouth at Maine Road.

Kevin Keegan’s men had already been crowned champions following a 5-1 win over Barnsley two weeks prior, but City turned on the style to round off a memorable year in style.

Goals from Steve Howey, Shaun Goater and Jon Macken were enough to claim all three points on the day, as we finished the campaign with 99 points and an astonishing 108 goals to our name.

It had been a rollercoaster of a season for City, with the team hitting our stride in the new year to win 16 of our 20 league matches from January onwards.
