The new football season is almost upon us, a matter of weeks after the last one ended.

Here’s all you need to know about the new campaign.

Premier League

The new Premier League season starts on the weekend of Saturday 12 September – but City have been given an additional week off to recover from our involvement at the Champions League tournament in Portugal.

Our first game is against Wolves away on Saturday 19 September.

Our game at home to Aston Villa, originally scheduled as our opening fixture, has been postponed with a new date and time will be confirmed later. 

The first Manchester derby of the season takes place on Saturday 12 December at Old Trafford, with the return match at the Etihad on Saturday 6 March.

On Boxing Day, we face Newcastle United at home, and our first match of 2021 will be away at Chelsea on January 2.

City’s Premier League season will end on Sunday 23 May as we welcome Everton to the Etihad.

FA Cup

City’s FA Cup involvement will begin in the third round on the weekend of Saturday 9 January.

Dates for the rounds are as follows:

FA Cup third round: Saturday 9 January

FA Cup fourth round: Saturday 23 January

FA Cup fifth round: Wednesday 10 February

FA Cup sixth round: Saturday 20 March

FA Cup semi-final: Saturday 17 April

FA Cup final: Saturday 15 May.

Carabao Cup

City are looking to make it four Carabao Cups in a row – and six in eight years!

gets under way at the third-round stage, due to take place on Wednesday 23 September - with the final on Sunday 28 February.  

3rd Round: Wednesday 23 September

4th Round: Wednesday 30 September

Quarter-final: Wednesday 23 December

Semi-final: Wednesday 6 January

Final: Sunday 25 April

Champions League

Qualifying for this year’s tournament is already under way. City, of course, will join at the group stage.

The dates are as follow:

Matchday 4: Wednesday 25 November

Matchday 5: Wednesday 2 December

Quarter-final: Wednesday 7 April and Wednesday 14 April

Semi-final: Wednesday 28 April and Wednesday 5 May

Final: Saturday 29 May.

International breaks

There are four international breaks scheduled, with the UEFA Nations League and the rescheduled Euro2020 playoffs to be played before the end of the new season.

They are as follows:

Wednesday 7 October to Wednesday 14 October

Wednesday 11 November to Wednesday 18 November

Wednesday 24 March to Wednesday 31 March

2020/21 SEASON PREPARATIONS

The Club has begun preparing to welcome supporters back and over the coming weeks we will be sharing information regarding our plans for seasonal membership and match tickets.

In the meantime, we are asking supporters to help us with our preparations by reviewing your personal details and contact information, updating them if necessary. This will enable us to fulfil the requirements of the Government’s Track and Trace scheme. Further information for Seasoncard holders is available here.
