Khusanov will become the first-ever Uzbek to play in the Premier League after his move was finalised on Monday. He signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, a deal which keeps him at City until the summer of 2029.
The 20-year-old has history with 45 having previously worn the number during his time playing at Energetik-BGU Minsk.
The number 45 will see the minds of many City fans no doubt wander to Mario Balotelli, the Club’s former Italian striker who made a huge impression during his two-and-a-half–year stay at the Etihad.
He scored 30 goals in 80 appearances wearing the No.45 in what was a largely colourful stint!
Indeed, Micah Richards also wore No.45 after graduating from the Club’s Academy, before switching to No.2. Richards went on to play 245 times for City, winning the 2011 FA Cup and 2011/12 Premier League title.
