Erling Haaland has one aim for Wednesday evening’s clash with Arsenal – to win.

Our 31-goal top scorer is enjoying an incredible first season in English football and says he expected to score a lot of goals for the Blues.

But what he most wants is to help the team win silverware – one of the main reasons he joined his boyhood heroes.

“It is not normal [to score 25 goals already] of course, but I knew this team is used to scoring 100 goals a season, so for me as a striker I knew I would come in and score goals,” said Haaland.

“My goal is to win trophies. Right now, we cannot think too much about what might happen in May, and I think we have to take it game by game – but win the game on Wednesday, that is my goal.

“The Premier League is a tough league and a tough competition.

“Every game counts so much and when we lost against Tottenham, we were out of everything - and now suddenly we are in it again.

“We have to take it game by game and relax a little bit.”

Haaland will face Norwegian international team-mate Martin Ødegaard if both players feature on Wednesday, and Erling says he delighted to see how well he is doing this season with Arsenal.

“He is such a good footballer and finally he is getting his full potential out,” he said.

“He is showing the world how good he is. That is really fantastic to see.”

Erling has been the focus of intense media scrutiny during his first campaign, with pundits and journalists fascinated by his stats so far.

Often, the number of touches he has in a game is highlighted, but the Norway star says his game is all about being ready to go, as and when he is needed.

“I have to stay focused during a game because the ball can come whenever,” he said.

“When I least expect it, the ball can come right in front of me and then I have to be ready to do the action.

“I don’t need to touch the ball for every single minute to enjoy the game. I have to be there when I should be and that is in front of the goal. That is what I am focusing on.”

When asked how he was enjoying the Premier League compared to the Bundesliga, he added: “I really enjoyed my time [with Dortmund].

“I had an amazing two and a half years there and we played good football.

“Now, we play good football at City. Of course, there are a lot of different things – players and managers.

“But in the end, my job is to put the ball in the back of the net and to be up front. That is the most important thing.”
