Aymeric Laporte and Rodrigo have called up to represent Spain at the 2022 World Cup.

The City duo have made a combined 49 appearances for La Roja, and were both part of the side which reached the semi-finals of last summer’s European Championships.

They have both played an important role in our success so far this season, and that contribution has been recognised by their inclusion in Luis Enrique’s 26-man squad for Qatar.

The 2010 world champions’ squad boasts a further three Premier League players in the form of Brighton stopper Robert Sanchez, Brenford goalkeeper David Raya and Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

Familiar faces in the form of ex-City players Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres have also been given the nod.

Spain face Costa Rica in their opening group match on Wednesday 23 November, with clashes against Ilkay Gundogan’s Germany and Japan also on the agenda.

Congratulations to Aymeric and Rodrigo on their inclusion in the Spain squad!
