The game will be played at Camp Nou, with kick off at 20:30 UK time.
All proceeds from the game will go towards ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research at Luzón Foundation in support of former Barcelona goalkeeper and coach Juan Carlos Unzué, who was diagnosed with the incurable degenerative neurological condition just over two years ago.
Supporters wishing to attend the event can buy tickets via Barcelona’s official website www.fcbarcelona.com with prices ranging from 19 euro for standard seats to 99 euro for VIP seats. Donations to the Luzón Foundation can also be made through the website using Row 0.
CITY+ subscribers can watch the game live and enjoy a full-match replay on demand from midnight.
At a press conference in Barcelona, Pep Guardiola said: “Speaking on behalf of Manchester City, for us it’s an honour that you [Unzue] have thought of us to come here for the event.
“We want to say thank you to FC Barcelona, because they are setting the great stage the Camp Nou is. We have the chance to fill it with as many people as we can. It’s an honour to be involved in the game”
“The best way to get people here is to explain why. We will try to get ready for the season on a stage like the Camp Nou. I’m convinced the stadium will be full, not only with Catalan fans, not just FC Barcelona fans, but for everyone.
“I hope we can fill the stadium. I’m so happy, on behalf of Manchester City, to come here for the game. On the 24th of August, we need to fill the stadium for a good cause”
