Pep Guardiola has made four changes for City's pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich in Tokyo.

Ederson will play in goal in place of Stefan Ortega Moreno while Ruben Dias, Rico Lewis and Bernardo Silva start instead of Manuel Akanji, Kalvin Phillips and Cole Palmer.

We started our pre-season in emphatic fashion against Yokohama F. Marinos on Sunday, ending up 5-3 winners against the J1 League champions.

How do I watch Bayern v City on TV?

This is the first meeting between the sides since the 2022/23 Champions League quarter-final, when we earned a 4-1 aggregate win on the way to the Treble.

The Japan National Stadium is sold out for this 11:30 (UK) kick-off and fans in UK and Germany watch it live on CITY+ or Recast.

Teams

CITY XI: Ederson, Walker (C), Stones, Dias, Ake, Lewis, Kovacic, Bernardo, McAtee, Grealish, Alvarez

Tactics

As always with Pep’s teams, expect a fluid system that will change in and out of possession.

Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake will all be in the defence, while John Stones and Rico Lewis are likely to have a hybrid role across both midfield and defence.

Ahead of them, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish will all be looking to find Julian Alvarez.

Lewis’ role

The youngster enjoyed an incredible first campaign as part of the senior squad in 2022/23.

Trusted in some major matches during the middle of the season and asked to play a complex role across full-back and midfield, he stepped up to the plate.

As well as his technical ability, Pep Guardiola is a major admirer of the Academy graduate’s attitude and enthusiasm.

With a squad that has won so much in recent seasons, the boss was well aware of the need for a young, hungry player in the group.

It will be interesting to see where he slots in tonight.

Change please

There were 10 substitutions at half-time during Sunday’s 5-3 victory over Yokohama F. Marinos and another followed midway through the second period.

With the start of the season fast approaching, Pep Guardiola will want to make sure all of his players are ready to go when we arrive at Wembley for the Community Shield next Sunday.
