The first football match to be played at Green Bay’s iconic Lambeau Field was twice delayed early on by severe weather, with a decision made to cut the match back to 40 minutes with a shortened break in between.
But the conditions could take nothing away from a truly memorable encounter, in which Erling Haaland found the net inside 12 minutes of his City debut.
The Norwegian tapped home from close-range after Jack Grealish had cut the ball back across the face of goal, queuing wild scenes in the 78,128-strong crowd and among his City teammates.
It was the dream start for our new No.9, who had the ball in the net once again on the stroke of half-time after smashing home from a Bernardo Silva pass, but his celebrations were cut short by the offside flag.
Pep Guardiola‘s men would go close once again late on when substitute Rico Lewis struck the post, while former City winger Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry were both inches from connecting with dangerous crosses at the other end.
And although we were unable to add to our advantage, it was a thoroughly convincing performance against a truly world class opponent as the start of the new season edges nearer.
