Bernardo Silva says he and his City team-mates will not be happy until they are back on top of the Premier League.

Arsenal are the current leaders after we cut the gap back down to five with a 3-1 victory at Elland Road after goals from Rodrigo and two from Erling Haaland.

Bernardo was delighted to claim the three points in our first Premier League game back since the World Cup break, and now has his sights set on reclaiming top spot.

“It was a good performance against a tough team in a very tough atmosphere,” the Portuguese midfielder said about the win over Leeds.

“We know how difficult it is to win there because last season it was very tough as well. I am happy to be back with a win.

“We know that we have got a long way to go and we are not at the top so we are not happy with that. We just need to keep working, keep winning games, three points after three points, we will try to get there.”

Haaland’s double at Leeds saw him become the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 20 goals after an incredible start to his City career.

And Bernardo said it is a delight to play alongside a striker who is so obsessed with goal-scoring and said the Norwegian is ambitious to get even more goals.

“To have that kind of player who is so focused on just the end of the product is great because he knows what he is there for and he does it perfectly,” Bernardo added.

“Just the hunger that he has to score more and more and more. You saw that he scored two [against Leeds] and he wasn’t happy because he could have scored more in that game.

“It is just crazy because any other player if they scored two goals would be over the moon, but he was happy and not totally happy because he felt he could have scored more which shows how ambitious he is, how focused he is to help the team and to be better every day. I am very happy we have a player like that.”

While Everton sit just a point above the relegation zone, Bernardo is expecting a tough test from the Toffees and says City will have to be at their best again.

“Everton is always a difficult game because even when they are not doing very well, it is a physical team and they have a big team mentality,” he said.

“We have suffered in the past against them. We are not going to take it easy, we are going to take this game seriously against them because we know how difficult it is to play against a team with so many quality players like Everton.”
