The Portuguese midfielder was our standout performer as we claimed just a third win at Anfield in the Premier League era, scoring our equaliser before playing a pivotal role in earning the winning penalty.
Be at City v Fulham this Wednesday!
It was a typically determined display from the 31-year-old, who over his eight-and-a-half years in England has proven his grit matches his finesse.
Indeed, after netting the 84th minute equaliser, he grabbed the ball and sprinted back to the centre circle for play to resume.
And after Erling Haaland’s spot kick sealed all three points, City remain six back from leaders Arsenal.
That marked just our second league win in 2026 and Bernardo says everyone in the squad is willing to give it their all in pursuit of silverware.
“To keep this hope alive and to go for the title, it feels really good,” he said after the win at Liverpool.
“Obviously, it’s just three points and nothing more than that. It’s a big boost for the team to try and go for it, try to be more stable and try to be more consistent.
“It’s our responsibility on the pitch to do our job and especially in January the level of the team dropped a little bit.
“In some games we weren’t good enough, we dropped a lot of points and we as players, everyone in this Club knows we have to do better.
“We’re very focused and looking forward to doing our job better and to go for it in the last three and a half months and to fight for all the titles.
“The reality is that we’re still in all competitions.”
While City are in the final of the Carabao Cup and still in the FA Cup and Champions League, the focus at the weekend was on the Premier League.
Arsenal currently sit top of the tree with 56 points from 25 games, while we’re on 50.
And Bernardo was keen to emphasise that anything can happen in the remaining 13 matches of the campaign.
“Of course, Arsenal are in a much better position than us because they are still six points ahead, but the dream is alive definitely,” he stated.
