Bernardo stresses there’s big motivation to win the Wembley clash because of the chance to win back-to-back League and Cup Doubles.
But he also pointed to the importance of the game to Blues supporters as we face the Reds on Saturday afternoon.
“For the fans and the way they live this game, a final of the FA Cup against your biggest rivals in the same city, I think it is very emotional for them and we get that,” said Bernardo.
“We try to prepare as best as possible to try and give them what they deserve which is another title and the win.
“It is motivation to try and do something that has never been done before.
“We have it in front of us and we are going to try and prepare the game as well as possible and try to be very competitive because we want this FA Cup.
“It would feel very, very good - no one has ever won the Double twice in a row and we want to get that record. We are very much looking forward to the game.”
City have just been crowned Premier League champions for the fourth season in succession while United’s eighth-placed finish was their lowest since 1990.
Regardless of that, Bernardo insists it will be a hugely difficult encounter with Erik ten Hag’s side.
“A big challenge,” our playmaking midfielder said of tomorrow’s 15:00 (UK) clash.
“They have been struggling with injuries in the last few weeks. I don’t know how fit some of them will be, but I expect most of them to be back.
“It is a derby and a derby is always a tough game.
“It is going to be a very competitive game for both sides and we expect a very difficult match.”
