City legend Mike Summerbee joined Bernardo Silva at training at the CFA to congratulate him on surpassing his tally of appearances for the Blues.

The City captain made his 453rd appearance for the Club in our 1-0 victory away to Burnley as we returned to the top of the Premier League.

That saw him overtake ‘Buzzer’ to move into eighth on the all-time list for City games.

Summerbee’s former team-mate Alan Oakes leads the way with 680 in total followed by Joe Corrigan and Mike Doyle.

Bernardo is the only City star to have played in the 21st century to appear in the top 10 list and is the most used player during Pep Guardiola’s trophy-laden reign at the Etihad Stadium.

Summerbee is a huge admirer of Bernardo and took the opportunity to congratulate him on his incredible achievement, also presenting the Portugal international with a commemorative shirt.

An adored member of the City family, Summerbee was a majestic forward of a golden period under Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison at Maine Road.

He made 452 appearances between 1965 and 1975 for a famous City side which won the League Championship, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup, forming part of celebrated trio alongside with Colin Bell and Francis Lee.

Bernardo also set another significant milestone in the win at Burnley as he became the City player to be involved in more Premier League victories than anyone else.

His 215th win a blue shirt took him ahead of David Silva on 214 with Ederson in third on 205.
