Bernardo Silva praised the players that came into the side to help Manchester City secure a 2-0 Premier League win over Burnley.

The winger opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium, before Kevin De Bruyne sealed the three points against the stubborn Clarets with a scintillating strike in the 70th minute.

Following his man of the match performance, Silva said: “We know how tough it is to play against Burnley, they play very direct and they are a very physical side.

“When we are attacking and teams defend so deep we have to put players in the box, we need numbers.

“We should’ve scored a few more goals in the first half, second half we controlled the game more. We should’ve scored a bit earlier but it’s three very important points and on to the next one. “

Pep Guardiola made five changes from the side that drew at Anfield, with Raheem Sterling, Zack Steffen, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Riyad Mahrez coming into the fold.

And with a Champions League trip to Brugge in only a few days, Silva stated how having a big squad is going to be crucial in City’s hunt for multiple trophies this season.

“We know that in modern football the amount of games that we have is massive,” he explained.

“It’s an amazing squad we have. It is good to have opportunities to change the team and everyone was fantastic today.

“We need everyone fit because of the amount of competitions we want to win, we need everyone and everyone today was very good.”
