Bernardo Silva has revealed that Riyad Mahrez is the joker of the City dressing room.

Bernardo and Mahrez have been good friends as well as team-mates since the Algerian winger joined City in July 2018.

In fact, the pair both drink a cup of coffee, made by Bernardo, one hour before kick-off each game as a pre-match superstition.

Mahrez is a ‘little clown’ in the changing room, according to Bernardo – but he has his game face on when it comes down to matters on the pitch.

He said: “He’s kind of a little clown to be honest. He’s always joking about everything. He never takes anything serious, apart from when he’s on the pitch.

“He doesn’t take things seriously and I like that because he has fun.

“You don’t have bad energy around Riyad so that’s nice when you have friends like that.”

Bernardo, as part of the new City Studios documentary ‘The Riyad Mahrez Story’, recalled the arrival of Mahrez from Leicester City at the start of the 2018/19 season.

He added: “He was player who won the Premier League with Leicester which is not easy.

“It is probably one of the biggest things that happened in the history of the Premier League.

“We knew a big, important player was coming to try and help us.

“And since he joined, he has helped us quite a lot.”
