Ahead of its much-anticipated release, there are plenty of documentaries to keep CITY+ subscribers entertained on mancity.com and our official app in the meantime.

Together

This is not the first series of Together.

We got a behind-the-scenes look at both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 Premier League winning campaigns with the first two City Studios releases of this season-long project.

Together, released in August 2021, follows as we won Pep Guardiola’s third Premier League medal and reached the Champions League final, all without full stadiums due to COVID. It’s a one-off 110-minute ride through a season like no other.

Together: Champions Again was seven episodes that spanned the 2021/22 season which saw us edge over the line against a relentless Liverpool side with a comeback victory on the final day against Aston Villa.

Both editions are available on CITY+ now!

The Pep Effect

Pep Guardiola is the most influential person in modern football.

Not just a coach with an insatiable hunger for trophies, the Catalan’s style of play has been copied, adapted and admired all over the world since his first steps into top-flight management in 2008.

Focusing on Pep Guardiola‘s impact on football across the UK and further afield, The Pep Effect is an hour-long programme with contributors from all levels of the game.

Since arriving at City in 2016, Guardiola has become the most successful manager in the Club’s history and cemented his status as one of the finest coaches the game has ever known.

The Pep Effect

The boss’ style of football and innovative formations have become study material for coaches the world over.

In this CITY+ documentary, we hear from other managers seeking to emulate Guardiola, players who have played under him, journalists who admire his philosophy and amateurs who dream of playing in the same way.

Kevin De Bruyne: Return of the King

Kevin De Bruyne missed almost five months of football earlier this season.

Return of the King follows the 32-year-old’s journey back to full fitness.

The Belgian’s season got off to the worst possible start in August when a hamstring injury led to his substitution in the first half of our Premier League opener with Burnley.

However, after undergoing surgery and extensive rehabilitation, our No.17 returned to the pitch in January.

Since then, he’s looked back to his best with two goals and 12 assists in 11 appearances.

Already a legend of the Club having been pivotal to a trophy-laden era, he is now on the hunt for more silverware in this campaign.

In this feature, we go behind the scenes to see how De Bruyne‘s recovery was managed as he worked closely with Manchester City’s medical staff, including physiotherapist and rehabilitation expert Tom O’Malley, in order to return to full fitness as soon as possible.

City Forever

We celebrate the Club’s permanent tribute to City legends Colin Bell, Francis Lee, and Mike Summerbee in this special feature.

For several months, our cameras followed the progress of a project that honours the enormous contribution of an iconic trio who hold a special place in City’s history.

City Forever: Bell, Lee and Summerbee | Watch now

On Tuesday 28 November 2023, the result of more than two years of planning, hard work and organising finally saw the light of day when the statue was unveiled at the Etihad.

This City Studios feature goes behind the scenes to tells the entire story of the statue which celebrates three of the Club’s greatest-ever players, from inception to completion.

3in3: How City’s EDS made history

This three-episode feature follows Brian Barry-Murphy’s Under-21s across what was a quite remarkable season capturing all the key moments as we secured what was an unprecedented third successive PL2 title.

The series takes viewers on an immersive journey inside the EDS environment, providing unprecedented access and bringing fans closer to the players and staff than you’ve ever been before.

3in3: How City’s EDS made history - Episode One

It focuses on a number of key games which helped decide the outcome of the battle for the title, offering fans an exclusive, inside perspective of how the drama unfolded in our quest to be crowned champions once again.

Narrated by former Academy graduate Nedum Onuoha, 3in3: How City’s EDS made history also offers an insight into the players away from the pitch as they reflect on what it takes to be successful, the tests and hurdles many have had to overcome along the way and how they manage to relax in their downtime.

Ballet on Ice

This documentary revisits an iconic match from Manchester City’s history.

City and Tottenham Hotspur - two of the finest teams in England - went head-to-head in a decisive clash at Maine Road back in 1967 which would later be dubbed ‘The Ballet on Ice’.

Documentary: The Ballet on Ice

With Malcolm Allison at the helm and including the likes of Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee, the hosts ran out 4-1 winners thanks to a majestic display despite the treacherous conditions.

All 35,792 that day saw a City side at their brilliant best, only months before we would be crowned First Division champions.

In this feature, we interview Mike Summerbee and Alan Oakes, Spurs’ Cliff Jones as well as childhood fan and former journalist Chris Bailey.

Ederson

One of the greatest goalkeepers Manchester City has ever had, unique in so many ways with a skill-set and passing range many outfield players would love to possess.

But what is his story? Where and how did his journey begin?

In our fascinating City Studios documentary - and with Brazil’s World Cup campaign beginning on Thursday evening - you can watch the inspiring story of a youngster who wanted to be a goalkeeper on his terms.

Ederson: Episode one - Beginnings

Vincent Kompany: Warrior, captain, leader

Our most successful captain and one of the Premier League’s great leaders provides his thoughts on the moments that shaped his time at the Club.

In part one we rewind to August 2008, when the imposing Belgian signed from Hamburg, whilst also recalling the biggest games of the Roberto Mancini era.

Kompany gives his verdict on some unforgettable wins over Manchester United, and the first two trophies of his City career, the 2011 FA Cup and the 2012 Premier League.

The inspirational Belgian also explains how he approached the role of captain and how it evolved under each of the managers he played under.

93:20 | The ultimate Premier League finale

This documentary provides the definitive account of an end of season run in like no other.

Having led from the front for much of the 2011/12 campaign, City’s form suddenly collapsed and with six matches left to play, we trailed Manchester United by eight points.

A 1-0 defeat away at Arsenal appeared to signal the end of Roberto Mancini’s side’s title hopes, but what followed was the most dramatic end to a Premier League season in history.

City won all six matches to take the trophy on goal difference, with Aguero’s strike against Queens Park Rangers deep into injury time on the final day sealing the Club’s first league title in 44 years.

The Argentine’s goal remains an iconic moment, one which has transcended football and entered the pantheon of great sporting occasions.
