Phil Foden is the fifth player to score more than one Premier League hat-trick for City.

His treble against Brentford was his second in the competition, following his three goals in the 6-3 Manchester derby win over United in October 2022.

Sergio Aguero, Erling Haaland – who also scored a treble against United that day - Raheem Sterling and Carlos Tevez are the other four City players with multiple hat-tricks.

Aguero tops the list with 12 hat-tricks followed by Haaland and Sterling with five while Tevez has four.

Of the current squad, Foden and Haaland are joined by Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva in bagging trebles.

KDB scored his against Wolves in May 2022 (in fact he scored four!) while Bernardo bagged three against Watford in September 2019.

Foden in form

Phil Foden is unquestionably a man in form – and we have the numbers to prove it.

The marauding midfielder has been directly involved in eight goals in his last six Premier League games.

He’s scored four goals – three against Brentford and one against Everton – and provided four assists.

They’ve come in the 3-1 win against Burnley (Rodrigo’s goal), both goals in the 2-0 win over Sheffield United (Rodrigo and Alvarez) and one in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace (Grealish’s goal).

His treble against Brentford was our 39th in the Premier League, which have been scored by 16 different players.

Paulo Wanchope scored our first in the Premier League, in August 2000’s 4-2 victory over Sunderland. Interestingly, Alfie Haaland scored the other that day.

Our 39 trebles is bettered by only Liverpool (42) and Arsenal (41).

Foden’s goal before half-time also ended a run of 47 shots in the Premier League by City against Brentford without scoring.

Those efforts have come since Foden himself netted in the 1-2 defeat against the Bees at the Etihad in November 2022.

After that, we lost 1-0 on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign at the Gtech Community Stadium, Ethan Pinnock scoring the solitary goal in May 2023.

Then, last night, Neal Maupay gave Thomas Frank’s men the lead as they went for three wins in succession against us but Foden netted just before the break ahead of adding two more in the second half to seal a victory that put in touching distance of leaders, Liverpool, with a game in hand.

Never-say-die attitude

City are now only the second team to win four Premier League away games in a row having gone behind in the matches.

The encounters in question were against Brentford (1-3), Newcastle (2-3), Everton (1-3) and Luton (1-2).

Manchester United were the first team to achieve this landmark, winning six top-flight away matches in a row between September and December 2020.

Assist King

City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, registered his 105th Premier League assist in the 3-1 win at Brentford.

His wonderful cross on 53 minutes was nodded home by Phil Foden to make it 2-1 on the night.

In fact, since returning to top-flight action against Newcastle, he’s provided three assists in three games.

On top of Foden’s against the Bees, he set up Oscar Bobb for the winner at St James’s Park and also supplied Julian Alvarez for his second in the 3-1 home win over Burnley.

He’s racked up 33 assists in all competitions since the start of 2022/23, nine more than any other Premier League player.

The next one currently in action in the Premier League is Liverpool’s Mo Salah, who has 24.

KDB is behind only Ryan Giggs (162) and Cesc Fabregas (111) on the all-time list.

Premier class Rodrigo

Everyone know the importance of Rodrigo to City.

His influence is there for all to see and he’s missed whenever he’s out, whether injured or suspended.

His record showcases that perfectly.

The holding midfielder has now gone a whole year unbeaten in a City shirt.

That’s 35 games, with the last defeat he endured seeing a 1-0 defeat to Spurs in February 2023, Harry Kane scoring the only goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
