Substitutes Omar Marmoush and Nico O'Reilly played a key role as City fought back to beat Bournemouth 2-1 to see Pep Guardiola's side advance to the final four of the FA Cup.

And the victory on the south coast means City have progressed to the semi-final of the prestigious competition for a seventh successive season.

After an intense opening to our quarter-final tie, City were awarded a penalty after a handball by Tyler Adams on 12 minutes.

However, Kepa Arrizabalaga went the right way to collect Erling Haaland’s spot kick to deny Guardiola’s side from taking an early lead at the sunny Vitality Stadium.

MATCH REPORT | BOURNEMOUTH 1-2 CITY

The game’s narrative flipped eight minutes later when Evanilson nudged Bournemouth ahead. Ederson did well to partially block Justin Kluivert’s initial effort, but Evanilson reacted quickest, beating Abdukodir Khusanov to the loose ball as it trickled towards City’s goal.

When the game got back underway for the second half, City were focused on turning the tide after looking the better side in the opening 45.

And it didn’t take long for substitute O’Reilly to boost City’s chances of a trip to Wembley.

The 20-year-old made a darting run down the left flank and teed up Haaland beautifully at the back post, with the striker guiding the ball past Kepa with ease on 49 minutes.

Guardiola was forced to bring the City number nine off through injury, which saw the introduction of Marmoush, who followed in O’Reilly’s footsteps: instant impact.

Two minutes after taking to the pitch, the Egypt international slotted a low strike under Kepa after O’Reilly poked the ball into his path.

And it would prove the defining moment with City unfortunate not to earn more with goal line clearances and saves denying Kevin De Bruyne and James McAtee in added time.
