The 20-year-old central defender is a part of the exciting Academy contingent included in the squad for our pre-season tour of the United States of America.
While stateside, the Blues will play four matches – with the Premier League champions playing Celtic in North Carolina, AC Milan in New York, Barcelona in Ohio and Chelsea in Columbus in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.
For Doyle, he’s aiming to savour every moment working with Guardiola and City’s first-team stars.
“It’s everyone’s dream really [to work with Guardiola]. He’s amazing, I’ll just take what he gives,” he explained.
“It will be great working with very good players again. Learning from them and gaining their experience and using it in my game. It will be great and great to see the lads.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CITY’S USA TOUR
“[I’ll] take it as it comes. With what I had last season [on loan at Leicester], working with different range of players and kind of knowing what they’re like in the game – I think it just goes off feel.
“Obviously there are great players here I’d like to work with, so I’d just like to see [where I’m at in my development].”
Following successful loan spells with Sunderland in 2021/22 and Coventry in 2022/23, the classy defender spent last term with Leicester – helping the Foxes to the Championship title.
Although he suffered an early injury set-back during his spell at the King Power Stadium – he reclaimed his place in former City coach Enzo Maresca’s side to fight off the challenge of Ipswich, Leeds and Southampton and finish at the division’s summit.
In total, he made 23 appearances in all competitions and extinguished the disappointment of losing in the Championship Play-Off final with Coventry the season before.
Doyle recalled: “It was a great feeling [to win the title]. I think since the start of last season, we knew we had a good chance of winning it.
“Obviously I worked with Enzo [Maresca] recently at City so it was good, a good experience and good to get the promotion as well.
“It was a bit nervous times at some points in the season, but I backed the lads and myself to get it over the line and it worked out.
“There was a game early on at Rotherham. From the games, I look back at them and see the team spirit we had it was great and it was a great group to work with.
“I think since from really the start of the season we backed ourselves to go and win it.”
City play our first match of pre-season against Celtic on Wednesday 24 July, with kick-off scheduled for 00:30 (UK).
Our meeting with the Scottish champions will be broadcast live on CITY+ and more information can be accessed here.
And Doyle revealed he’ll be realising a childhood ambition if he’s to feature against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
He added: “[I’m] probably [most looking forward to] Celtic. I’ve always dreamed since I was a little kid to play against Celtic.
“Since I was watching the derbies between Celtic and Rangers I feel like it’ll be a good game, a good test and a good battle.”
