Pep Guardiola’s side face the Italian’s men in the Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday at 20:00 (UK).
Following last week’s pulsating 3-3 draw in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, the tie is finely poised with a place in the last four at stake.
CITY V REAL MADRID | MATCH PREVIEW
The six-goal thriller in Spain’s capital meant a total of 23 goals have been shared between the two heavyweights across our past five meetings – an average of 4.6 per match.
And Ancelotti believes the two teams could contribute to another European classic in Manchester.
“There are many teams in Europe who are really strong that can fight to win this competition,” he explained.
“In the last two or three years we’ve faced City and they have always been spectacular games.
“I think tomorrow will be the same, a spectacular game and very entertaining.
“I don’t think we have to evaluate what happened in the past. We just have to look at tomorrow’s game and how we approach bearing in mind what happened a week ago.
“We have to compete, fight and believe in what we’re trying to do today.
“I think the game was very close. A draw. We played 90 mins and now we are going to play 180 minutes. Anything can happen.
“We believe we can have necessary qualities to create problems.”
Erling Haaland enters tomorrow’s seismic Champions League clash having scored in City’s emphatic 5-1 Premier League win over Luton Town last time out – raising his season tally to 31 in all competitions this term.
Although he didn’t find the net in the first leg meeting with Real Madrid, Ancelotti says the Norwegian is always a fearsome threat.
He said: “If were talking about individuals, Haaland is one of the most dangerous players Manchester City have.
“He didn’t appear much in the first half of the first leg, but Haaland could be one of the best centre forwards in the world right now.
“He’s always very, very dangerous.”
