Pep Guardiola‘s young City side were on the wrong side of a seven goal thriller, with Oscar Bobb, Maximo Perrone and Erling Haaland grabbing our goals.
Brendan Rodgers named a much more experienced XI than the youthful team representing City, while the Scottish champions are also ahead in terms of fitness with their league season due to start next week.
Our opponents scored first in the 12th minute, when midfielder Matt O’Riley fed Nicolas Kuhn to see the German winger drive towards goal and finish beyond Stefan Ortega Moreno.
However, City were the better side after conceding with Haaland and James McAtee both denied by excellent Kasper Schmeichel saves on the Dane’s first appearance for Celtic.
The goalkeeper couldn’t stop Bobb’s low shot just after half an hour though, with the No.52 forcing a powerful hit home.
No sooner had we drawn ourselves level were we again behind, with Kuhn scoring a carbon copy of his first finish after sprinting down the right wing.
The Bhoys had their third just before half-time, with Kyogo Furuhashi sprinting through the heart of the defence, taking the ball around Ortega Moreno and tucking home.

Our second half began as brightly as possible, with Bobb dribbling down the right and setting up half-time substitute Perrone, who took one touch and cushioned the ball into the far corner.
The equaliser came soon after, with Bobb popping up on the left to send a deep cross for Haaland to leap high and head home from close range.
In amongst a raft of changes for both sides, Celtic’s Honduras international Luis Palma tapped to put his side ahead again.
Despite City’s best efforts, the score remained that way in an entertaining start to our four-match pre-season tour.
