It also means we have scored 34 more goals at home than anyone else in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
German club Bayern Munich are second with 66, slightly ahead of Manchester United (65), Real Madrid (58) and Borussia Dortmund (57).
The bulk of the goals have come in the Premier League, hitting 60 in 19 games at the Etihad. In just six Champions League matches at home, we have scored a whopping 24 goals while we have also found the net 11 times in five FA Cup matches and on five occasions in two Carabao Cup ties.
That averages out to 3.1 goals per game in our 32 home matches in 2022/23.
Erling Haaland is our leading scorer at the Etihad, with 35 goals in 26 games. Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez are next with 13 and 10 respectively.
Phil Foden (nine), Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan (both six) and Bernardo Silva (five) have also consistently chipped in.
Below we’ll take a look at the other standout stats from Sunday’s match...
Guardiola’s winning runs
This is the fifth time Guardiola‘s City have been on a run of 12 or more successive Premier League victories. Across the entire history of the Premier League, it has only been achieved on 15 occasions.
Each title success has in fact been defined by one of these winning runs.
18 victories in a row after a draw in the second week set us up for the momentous Centurions season in 2017/18.
City’s 2022/23 Premier League win | Stats and records
The following year saw us put together 14 wins to end the campaign and win the league by just one point.
Our 15 consecutive victories from December 2020 to March 2021 was the decisive factor in our title success that campaign.
We then won 12 in a row in the middle of last season to set up another title win by just one point against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Palmer’s Premier League record
Cole Palmer was pivotal to Sunday’s victory, supplying Alvarez for the only goal of the game and proving a constant menace down the left wing.
The 21-year-old has won all 16 Premier League games he’s appeared in – the best 100%-win rate of any player in the competition’s history.
He’s also a two-time Premier League winner now!
Dominance over Chelsea
We have defeated Chelsea four times this season, becoming the first side to do so since 2010/11.
That means we have now beat Chelsea in our last six meeting across all competitions without conceding a single goal.
During that run we have scored 10 goals and registered four wins in the Premier League and one in each of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Match stats
Although Pep Guardiola made nine changes, it didn’t stop City from winning the match. With the title already secured and Chelsea in mid-table without the threat of relegation or hope of European football there was little riding on the game itself.
However, the carnival atmosphere inside the Etihad was treated to an even tussle. City had 15 shots with an expected goals (xG) of 1.19 compared to Chelsea’s 13 shots totalling 1.25 xG.
City, of course, had the lion’s share of the ball. We had 65% possession with a total of 692 passes and 343 in the opposition half.
Kalvin Phillips enjoyed a strong first Premier League start for City, having more touches (96) and completing more passes (77) than anyone else on the pitch. Phil Foden, playing centrally, completed 23 passes in the final third and attempted four shots in a highly influential display.
Premier League stats so far this season
Erling Haaland is the Premier League’s leading scorer with 36 goals, eight ahead of nearest challenger Harry Kane.
Kevin De Bruyne remains five ahead of Bukayo Saka and Mo Salah with 16.
Our 93 goals in the best in the league, 10 better than next best Arsenal. We have completed 23,830 passes, more than 2000 better than Liverpool - who have played 21,797.
