Pep Guardiola led City into a record fourth successive FA Cup final following our eight consecutive semi-finals and we had the ball in the net shortly before the half-hour mark at Wembley through Erling Haaland, but the goal was disallowed for Matheus Nunes being offside in the build-up.
Just after the interval, a great run and cross from Nico O’Reilly found the onrushing Antoine Semenyo, but his header looped onto the roof of the net.
However, our speedy winger made sure to find the net with his next chance in the 72nd minute, latching onto Haaland’s cross to expertly adjust his body to execute a backheel flick into the far corner.
Chelsea almost hit back instantly but Enzo Fernandez poked over from close-range, before a Nunes cross struck the outside of the post.
Rayan Cherki then almost doubled our lead but saw his effort saved well by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
We remained resolute in the final moments to preserve the clean sheet and become 2025/26 FA Cup winners.
