Rayan Cherki’s wonderful solo effort against Arsenal is amongst the nominees for April’s Premier League Goal of the Month award.

The Frenchman’s brilliant strike against the Gunners helped us to a crucial three points against our closest title rivals.

Early in the game at a raucous Etihad Stadium, Cherki kept his composure to deliver an early blow.

Picking up the ball on the edge of the box, he weaved between four Arsenal players before a low sidefoot finish beyond David Raya and into the bottom corner.

Not only was it a superb goal, the context of the occasion makes it extra special as City secured a 2-1 win to maintain our title challenge.

Cherki’s strike is one of eight contenders for April’s Goal of the Month award.

He is up against Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool v Fulham), James Justin (Leeds v Wolves), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton at Spurs), Xavi Simons (Spurs v Brighton), Andy Robertson (Crystal Palace v Liverpool), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal v Newcastle) and Mathias Jensen (Brentford at Manchester United).

You can vote for Cherki here with voting open until 12.00 UK on Monday, 4 May.

The winner will be announced at 13.00 (UK) on Friday, 9 May.
