Manchester City have unveiled a mosaic for Ederson who returns to the Etihad Stadium today.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, who departed the Club last summer after eight memorable years at the Club, has been presented with the bespoke mosaic by Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, located alongside the men’s first team goalkeeper pitch at City Football Academy.

The artwork captures Ederson’s heroic performance in the UEFA Champions League Final against Inter Milan, a defining moment in which helped City secured the trophy for the first time, serving as a lasting tribute to his impact and legacy.

A player that redefined the role of the modern goalkeeper, Ederson made 372 appearances during his time at the Club, winning 18 major trophies. He becomes the second goalkeeper to be recognised with a dedicated training pitch after Joe Hart.

He joins former players including Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, David Silva as well as Bernardo Silva and John Stones on a list of those recognised with a mosaic, created by local Manchester sculptor and City supporter Mark Kennedy.

Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “For eight seasons Ederson delivered against the incredible demands of Pep’s reimagining of what a modern goalkeeper should be. In doing so, he helped to set the standard for the future of the game. His imprint is therefore not only on the history of our club but also on the history of goalkeeping.

“His uncompromising style and commitment underpinned so much of our success during his time with us. The achievements he contributed to will be part of this Club forever, as will he.”

Ederson added: “As soon as I saw the mosaic, I felt immense pride. You never expect when you join a club to have the level of success I enjoyed at City. You just work hard everyday and hope the trophies will follow.

“I was so lucky to have amazing teammates and work with the best staff in the world. It meant we could win consistently and make the Manchester City fans happy along the way.

“I want to thank the club for this gesture. To be honoured like this is a dream for me.”
