City quartet James Trafford, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and Cole Palmer have all be included in the England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championship finals.

The tournament kicks off later this month and will be staged in both Georgia and Romania.

Goalkeeper Trafford has just returned from a fine season on loan at Bolton where he helped the League One side to claim the EFL Trophy at Wembley and was also voted as Young Player of the Season.

Central defender Harwood-Bellis has also enjoyed a fine domestic season on loan at Burnley, emerging as one of the lynchpins in the Lancashire’s side march back to the Premier League from the Championship under the leadership of former City legend Vincent Kompany

Creative midfielder Doyle too shone bright last term on loan with Championship side Sheffield United, helping the Blades gain promotion back to the topflight in impressive fashion.

Palmer meanwhile will link up with Lee Carsley’s group fresh from having helped City to the Treble, the attacking midfielder playing his part across our historic Champions League Premier League and FA Cup successes.

The England youngsters will take on the Czech Republic, Israel and Germany in their group games, with the top two teams in the group then progressing into the quarter-final knockout stages.

England kick-off their campaign against the Czech Republic on Thursday 22 June (17.00 BST).

They then take on Israel on Sunday 25 June (17.00 BST), before their final group game against Germany on Wednesday 28 June (17.00 BST).
