This evening’s result at Goodison Park saw Pep Guardiola’s squad break the record previously established by Joe Royle’s City side between January and September of 1999.
We have also now won 14 away games in succession – a new Club and national record.
Our current run of superlative form away from home began with November’s 1-0 Champions League success away at Olympiakos.
Since then, City have gone on a remarkable run of form across all four competitions.
In total, the amazing sequence of results away from the Etihad has comprised of:
November 25: Olympiakos 0-1 City (Champions League)
December 1: Porto 0-0 City (Champions League)
December 12: Manchester United 0-0 City (Premier League)
December 19: Southampton 0-1 City (Premier League)
December 22: Arsenal 1-4 City (Carabao Cup)
January 3: Chelsea 1-3 City (Premier League)
January 6: Manchester United 0-2 City (Carabao Cup)
January 23: Cheltenham 1-3 City (FA Cup)
January 26: West Brom 0-5 City (Premier League)
February 3: Burnley 0-2 City (Premier League)
February 7: Liverpool 1-4 City (Premier League)
February 10: Swansea 1-3 City (FA Cup)
February 17: Everton 1-3 City (Premier League)
February 21: Arsenal 0-1 City (Premier League)
February 24: Borussia Monchengladbach 0-2 City (Champions League)
March 13: Fulham 0-3 City (Premier League)
March 20: Everton 0-2 City (FA Cup)
It’s just the latest in a series of outstanding landmark achievements for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.
We have already set a new best-ever tally for the longest run of consecutive wins in top-flight history by chalking up 21 straight wins between December and March.
City also won all nine of our competitive fixtures in January, the most by a team in the top four tiers of English football in a single month since the formation of the Football League in 1888.
Furthermore, we also equalled our record by going 28 games unbeaten across all competitions.
City are currently 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League, through to a fourth successive Carabao Cup final, into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and now into the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Congratulations to Pep, his backroom staff and all the players on their continued excellence this season.
