Pep Guardiola preview
“From my point of view, Bayern are not a team built to just think it’ll happen second leg. They are coming to win.
“My experience there, you try to win. If they defend more than usual it’s because we’re doing well, not because of the approach of Bayern.
“To sit back, defend 90 minutes and make two or three transitions, I don’t think so, but at the end I don’t think that is going to happen.”
Previous meeting
City haven’t faced Bayern Munich in a competitive match since the 2014/15 season where we met in the group stages of the Champions League.
The away leg saw the Bavarians grab all three points through a last-minute goal from Jerome Boateng.
In the reverse fixture though, Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick, including an added time winner, allowed us to get our revenge.
Last time out
Erling Haaland‘s return to action was marked with a brace in our 4-1 win over Southampton.
The Norwegian opened the scoring from a Kevin De Bruyne cross, grabbing the latter his 100th Premier League assist in record time in the process.
A further goal for Jack Grealish and penalty for Julian Alvarez set the seal on a dominant victory.
