Erling Haaland struck his 98th and 99th City goals to inspire a 2-1 Premier League victory over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola‘s men found themselves behind inside just 22 seconds, with Yoane Wissa capitalising on a slashed defensive clearance to head into an empty net.

The visitors remained on the front foot and missed multiple opportunities to double their advantage, with Bryan Mbuemo and Nathan Collins unable to capitalise in front of goal.

After 19 minutes, Haaland’s instinctive strike inside the box deflected beyond Mark Flekken to level the score.

Shortly after the half-hour mark, the Norwegian latched onto Ederson‘s long pass and expertly dinked us into the lead, claiming his ninth goal of the league season in four appearances.

After 66 minutes, the lively Jack Grealish almost added our third, but his curling effort towards the bottom corner was superbly palmed away by the sprawling Flekken.

Flekken remained busy for the remainder of the game, expertly denying Haaland and Savinho to keep it 2-1, with Haaland also crashing a shot against the post.

We remained in control for the remaining minutes to secure the three points and maintain our 100% winning start to the league campaign.
