Rodrigo's 83rd minute deflected strike earned City a 1-1 Premier League draw against Chelsea in an entertaining clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola‘s men controlled possession but not chances in the first half, as the visitors should have taken the lead as Nicolas Jackson raced through on goal, but a heavy touch allowed Ederson to smother the effort expertly.

Raheem Sterling was next to find space in the City half, but Ederson once again was swift off his line to claim the ball at the Englishman’s feet.

However, Sterling made no mistake with his next chance, cutting in and curling into the far corner three minutes before the interval.

We emerged from the break with attacking intent and almost found the leveller, but Kevin De Bruyne‘s powerful free-kick dipped onto the roof of the net.

The pressure intensified as the clock ticked past the hour mark, with Phil Foden finding Erling Haaland inside the box, but he struck wide from ten yards.

Haaland came close again, arrowing the ball towards the top corner, but Dorde Petrovic palmed the ball out for a corner, before the striker failed to hit the target again, this time from eight yards as his header sailed over the crossbar.

With just under ten minutes left to play, Rodrigo connected with a loose ball on the edge of the box to blast into the roof of the net to get the goal that our play deserved.

Guardiola‘s men pushed for a late winner, but had to settle for a point which keeps us in third place with 53 points, four points behind Liverpool, with City still having a game in hand.
