Julian Alvarez scored one and assisted another to help secure a 3-1 (6-2 agg) UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg victory over FC Copenhagen.

Pep Guardiola‘s men made an electric start under the Etihad Stadium floodlights and took the lead after just five minutes, with Manuel Akanji volleying in expertly from an outswinging  Alvarez corner, claiming his second goal of the Champions League campaign.

Four minutes later, Alvarez turned from provider to scorer, striking on target with the ball slipping through the gloves of Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and into the net.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, the visitors pulled one back through Mohamed Elyounoussi, who finished off a neat move with a composed finish from 12 yards.

Erling Haaland restored our two-goal lead on the evening deep into first half stoppage time, latching onto Rodrigo‘s chipped pass before cutting inside and blasting into the bottom corner for his sixth goal in the competition this season.
