Erling Haaland's second half brace inspired City to a crucial victory over a rigid Everton, taking us to the top of the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola‘s men came into the clash on the back of a superb run of form, chalking up nine consecutive victories across all competitions.

However, Sean Dyche’s side were rigid, resolute and determined to limit City in the first 45 minutes.

The champions remained patient after the break, with Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker introduced from the bench to add some attacking intensity.

With just under 20 minutes left to play at the Etihad Stadium, we finally broke through the organised visitors, with a loose ball inside the box falling to Haaland, who blasted into the roof of the net with his right foot.

With five minutes of normal time remaining, the Norwegian doubled his tally, racing through on goal from De Bruyne‘s pass to coolly slot beyond Jordan Pickford.

The double now takes our number nine’s total in the top-flight to 16 goals, the most in the division, two ahead of Mohamed Salah.
